The prominent grassy bank turned out to be an old field boundary

An excavation took place in advance of a housing development to investigate a prominent bank in a field bordering Scalby Road. Immediately to the south of the bank was a stone barn and it was thought the bank might conceal a demolished structure adjacent to this building. However, the excavation discovered that the bank was nothing more than an old field boundary with a shallow ditch on the west side fronting onto Scalby Road.
