This area looking towards Eastfield preserves part of the site of the medieval village of Osgodby

Fields to the west and north of Manor Farm were walked over to try and pinpoint areas of medieval and earlier occupation in advance of plans to build on the site through the collection of surface artefacts. The material collected principally consisted of bone, pottery, iron and flint with pottery being the largest category. An area of broken limestone tiles with concentrations of medieval pottery immediately to the west of the site of the medieval chapel of St Leonard’s (now occupied by the Barn public house) could indicate the location of a medieval building.
