Summary of results

The public house is on the site of the medieval chapel

The construction of an adventure playground at the rear of this property involved the stripping of an area of topsoil and the excavation of 23 small holes to support play equipment. The work did not bring to light anything of archaeological importance despite the fact that the present building occupies the site of Osgodby Hall and the medieval chapel of St Leonard. Several fragments of worked stone in an adjacent field wall may have come from the chapel or the hall.
